The Department of Educational Leadership & Workforce Development invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions in Higher Education to join a dynamic R 1 research environment and contribute to graduate teaching, scholarship, and service in a practitioner–scholar program. The Higher Education (HIED) Program seeks candidates for the following appointments beginning August 2026: Position A: Assistant or Associate Professor, Tenure-Track Position B: Assistant Professor, Tenure-Track) Rank will be determined based on qualifications, experience, and institutional criteria. About the Program and University Old Dominion University is a public, metropolitan, Carnegie Research 1 institution located in the Hampton Roads region of coastal Virginia, enrolling approximately 18,000 undergraduate and 6,000 graduate students. In 2024, ODU merged with Eastern Virginia Medical School, expanding its academic and research footprint in the health sciences. Position Responsibilities Faculty appointed through this search will be expected to: Maintain an active and sustained scholarly agenda leading to peer-reviewed publications Actively engage in submitting and acquiring external funding consistent with tenure and promotion standards at an R 1 institution Teach graduate courses (master’s, Ed. S., and PhD.) in face-to-face and online formats, including asynchronous delivery; the typical teaching load is four graduate courses per academic year Advise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees Contribute to curriculum development, program governance, and departmental initiatives Engage in service to the department, college, university, and profession appropriate to rank Collaborate with state, national, and international organizations in higher education Position Type FullTime Type of Recruitment General Public Type of Recruitment General Public Minimum required education and/or special licenses, registrations, trainings, or certifications A doctorate degree from a regionally accredited university in Higher Education or a related field.
